At a loss

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2004

I had to use our “Especially for Baby” nail clippers to cut my fingernails today. They are pretty small; it took a while.

I did this because I cannot find my own clippers. Note: They are not just a little pair of nail clippers, they are in a big honkin black grooming set, which is nowhere to be seen in the house.

Losing stuff like this is not a new problem, but it is getting worse and worse.

We have a lot of stuff in our house. This does not mean we are rich. It just means we have a lot of stuff (some people might refer to some of it as junk). Although my wife is far from neat I am the worst pack rat imaginable.

Fortunately our house is not that big, so it limits me. In our old house, we had a two-car garage — an ancient structure that was litterally falling down until I propped it up. By the time we moved the entire garage was filled with stuff. Most of it went into a dumpster, except for quite a bit of valuable lumber which we left for the ungrateful idiots who bought our house for a very reasonable price and then tried to complain about everyting under the sun before we finally closed the deal.

Now, we have no garage. The basement is almost entirely finished, which is also good in that it doesn’t turn into a junk heap, like the old one did.

We do have an attic, and it is starting to get a little frightening.
