A good word

Since I've been slamming lots of people recently, I should put in a good word for Same Day Service. They come to your house and fix appliances, and they really come on the same day you call. Our dryer had slowly lost its fire, so my wife called them yesterday, and a rep came over and rebuilt the dryer and installed a better vent pipe. It cost a bit, but no hassels and no waiting. This is the third time we've used them and have always been impressed. The best thing is that, with both the washer and dryer, they showed up with the correct parts on the truck to fix them.

I have the opposite experience with Same Day Service - they came and gave me a $270 bill to replace a $50 item on my fridge. When I asked for a break down they said that's the rate they charge for the job and there is no break down. If I said no, they still charge you $60 for the first visit. Isn't that extortion? Charge a high initial rate to come through the door and then charge a high price that you can't back up? And if you don't take their rediculous amount then you lose the $60? Granted, if money is no object, then they are very prompt and professional. But if you want my advice, you're better off buying a new whatever is broken, then paying almost the same amount for repair.
