Mowed the lawn today for the first time in a long, long time -- it was very dry for a while, but recently wet enough to produce grass you could hide a compact car in. Hope this is the last mowing of the year -- leaves are starting to turn up in northern New England and I saw a family putting up Halloween decorations today. I used to like fall, but somehow now it is reminding me too much of friends I have not seen for a long time. Maybe I'm just getting old...

What is it about big high-tech companies in America that dooms them to be managed by idiots? Of course this has nothing to do with where I work at all :-)

Why? Because cute kittens are just worth posting. Gotta see em before they turn into the true creatures of evil, aka cat (We have two of them, love them but they are truly evil sometimes). It is the mark of the true evil of being a cat that they can be so evil and so cute at the same time.

Started beginning Spanish lessons tonight -- boy is it hard when you haven't done this since high school! The pace was a little fast for my very tired brain, but at least we should learn a lot. Have to work hard -- repeating things, etc.

A not very great day today, indeed. Learned some interesting things about JavaScript, got something interesting to work, but felt really crappy and only worked about a half day. Rainy, cloudy, hope it gets less muggy.

But some good news: Subway service is restored in lower Manhatten (near where I used to work). A very good thing -- New York is very broken without subways.

I used to take the PATH trains through World Trade Center most days -- that's not back yet, but I want it to be.
