The 9/25 date sounds fine to me, lets go with that.
FOR NEW LIST JOINERS:
We are currently requesting that all those interested in joining the
porting effort, please download the Java code (see http://java.sun.com)
and read through what you can of it and the porting guide. This is in
preparation for deciding how to divide up the port, and prioritizing
what needs to be ported in what order.
