Re: DCE 2.1 for OS/2...use it for Java port?

heh.. fine by me, but maybe we should tackle this _after_ we get a working
version of HotJava (I can just see this turning into one of those projects
where we spend all our time working on tools and never get to the actual
application :)
Actually, regarding whether to use IBM's DCE or not, my general feeling is
that's up to whoever ends up being involved in the porting of the threads
section, though that assumes we can all get our hands on it if people do
decide to use it, so that the rest of us can compile the code too.. Perhaps
it would be good to all apply for the beta program just in case (I'm not too
familiar with this aspect of interacting with IBM.. anyone want to post
details about exactly what hoops to jump through?)..
One thing to take into account, tho.. does anyone even know how well IBM's DCE
package works with EMX (I'm assuming, being from IBM, that it's intended for
Cset stuff)? Might be worth testing this before people decide whether or
not to use it.
Anyway, my general feeling is probably we shouldn't use it unless there's a
good reason to (since it will limit third-party usefulness of our code), but
if we can all get ahold of it and there is a good reason for using it, I don't
have a problem with that.
Anyway, do some experienced threads people want to comment?
